Because he's your fucking next door neighbor, man. He is the epitomy of so many kids today, all around the world. Bored, indifferent, scornful and uncaring. All he wishes is to blend into the crowd, to become a part of a mass. He does not want to be an individual. Naota wants to be someone else.

I adore him because he is real. I mean, as much as i love, say, Shinji from Evangelion, not every 14-year-old kid has a huge-ass mecha that he uses to save Japan from Angels. Naota lives a real life.

I like Naota becuase he's struggling with the fact that he won't be a kid much longer. That his world, everything that a child knows is going to be shattered, upon entrering high school. It's different. It's change. and change sometimes scares the bravest of us.
